Nonprofit Brand System & Outreach Strategy
Built the full brand identity, guidelines, and social media foundation for Flourish, a nonprofit outreach program for young adults in need, designing the system to be handed off and run by others after my internship ended.
Client: Cornerstones of Care — Build Trybe (Nonprofit)
Timeline: Summer 2023
My Role: Design & Social Media Intern
Build Trybe needed a way to reach the at-risk and underprivileged youth/young-adults in their program beyond the walls of the classroom, and to build genuine trust and community among a group of kids who were often disconnected from each other and from resources they needed. Flourish was conceived as that outreach initiative, and I was brought in to build it from the ground up: not just design assets, but the entire brand foundation the program would run on.
I designed the full visual identity and wrote comprehensive brand guidelines, along with the mission statement itself, translating the program’s purpose, providing trusted resources and fostering conversations around independent living, into something visual and consistent. I also specified the photo art direction for the brand, so every future image shot for Flourish would feel intentional and cohesive rather than ad hoc.
Because I knew I’d be handing this program off after my internship ended, a large part of my work was building for continuity, not just for launch. I wrote a full social media guide for whoever would run the account after me, and I set the initial tone, voice, and content foundation myself, producing the first wave of graphics, photography, and video, and beginning outreach into the community Flourish was built to serve.
The real measure of this project wasn’t a metric, it was a working, documented brand system that could actually outlive my internship and be picked up and run by someone else with a clear foundation already in place.
