Period Poverty Donation Drive

Designed and led a two-week campus donation drive combating period poverty, collecting 796 period products for Strawberry Week, a Kansas City nonprofit.

Client: Self-initiated, Kansas City Art Institute (Social Practice)
Timeline: Fall 2023
My Role: Designer & Organizer

Period poverty is a real, widespread issue hidden by stigma: 2 in 5 women struggle to afford period products. For a social practice initiative at KCAI, I designed and hand-made three banners, placed them around campus alongside donation bins, with the goal of raising awareness and directly combating period poverty in my own community.

Results
Over two weeks, the drive collected 796 period products, all of which were donated to Strawberry Week, a Kansas City nonprofit dedicated entirely to addressing period poverty.

Project Components: Laser-cut felt banners (3) · Risograph educational zines · Donation boxes (3) · Campus wayfinding map poster
