App Redesign for Bowling League Secretaries
Redesigned the onboarding experience for League Secretary, a bowling league management app, cutting completion time across every tested user group, with the largest gains for the least tech-confident users.

Timeline: October – December 2023
My Role: UI/UX Designer | Student
League Secretary is a real bowling league management app, and its existing onboarding and navigation experience was genuinely difficult for its actual user base, largely made up of older league secretaries and bowlers less confident with technology. I led a full redesign, starting with user research across three real personas: a 71-year-old league secretary, a 58-year-old youth coach, and two bowlers in their early 30s, mapping out each group’s specific pain points (unclear league names, confusing dropdown menus, no way to add multiple leagues at once) and goals (faster selection, easier navigation, clearer error handling).
From there, I built out wireframes for the full onboarding flow, then developed a complete UI kit, buttons, inputs, navigation, and iconography, before designing the final redesigned interface and a refreshed brand mark.
I user-tested both the original app and my redesign against a control group of 12, timing how long it took each group to complete onboarding. Every persona completed onboarding faster on the redesign: the league secretary finished 23 seconds faster, the youth coach 14 seconds faster, and the bowlers 5 seconds faster, with the biggest gains landing exactly where they mattered most: the least tech-confident users saw the largest improvement.
